Filament batches and "Stock movement"
How to restock spools in batches with the average price recalculated, and view the feed of incoming and outgoing stock.
When a new batch of the same filament arrives, don't create a new item. Add a batch to the existing one.
How it works
- Open the filament card, go to the "Batches" tab and click "Add batch".
- Enter the number of spools.
- Choose the weight entry mode, "per spool" or "for the whole batch", and enter the value.
- You can leave the price empty, and then the average price won't change.
- Save. The weighted average spool price and the total capacity are recalculated automatically.
Consumption follows the FIFO principle: the oldest batch is used first, and on returns the opposite, the newest first.
The "Stock movement" tab is a single feed: batch receipts and consumption (deductions during printing and manual adjustments), newest entries on top. A consumption entry has an "Undo" button, which creates a reversing entry without deleting history. The "Write-offs" tab stores the reasons for manual write-offs.
Frequently asked questions
Why look at "Stock movement" before buying? You see the real rate of filament consumption. For calculating days until it runs out, there is the purchase forecast.
Can I delete a batch? It is better to undo the consumption entry or add a correcting one; history is preserved this way.
If something goes wrong
The average price didn't change: you left the price field empty. The balance went negative: the write-off happened before you added the batch; after you add the batch, the balance evens out.
