Your first print cost calculation
How to calculate the cost and price of your first model in a few minutes and save the result as an order.
The calculator adds up all costs of a product (material, electricity, printer wear, your labor, packaging) and suggests a selling price with a markup. It works on the website and in the app, with the same steps.
How it works
- Open "Calculator" in the menu (or click "New calculation" on the home page). If both FDM and SLA are enabled, choose the technology at the top.
- In the "Model" block, enter the part name. It goes into the order and reports.
- Enter the weight and print time manually. Or upload a file from your slicer (.gcode or .3mf): grams, time, and often the printer and filament are filled in automatically. More in the article Slicer files.
- In the "Material" block, choose a spool (a resin for SLA). If there isn't a suitable one, add it under "Warehouse → Filaments" or use a manual material price.
- In the "Equipment" block, choose a printer. Without a printer the calculator warns that wear and electricity aren't included and the price is understated.
- If needed, fill in "Labor" (operator time, modeling) and "Consumables & packaging".
- On the right, in "Cost breakdown", check the cost and price. By default the "Auto" mode is on: the price equals cost plus the markup from settings.
- Save: "Save order" if you are printing for a client, "For self" if it isn't for sale, "Save to warehouse" if you are making a product for stock.
Frequently asked questions
Where does the markup come from? From "Settings → Calculations". You can change it within a calculation; more in the article Price modes.
What if I don't know the weight and time? Enter approximate values or upload a slicer file. Later you can recalculate with the "Recalculate" button in the order.
My calculation disappeared, I closed the page by accident. An unfinished calculation saves itself as a draft. See Templates and drafts.
If something goes wrong
- The price is too low: check whether a printer is selected and whether the list of items in the markup base is empty.
- The "Save order" button is disabled: on the Lite plan there is a limit on client orders, see Lite limits.
