How do I size Gridfinity to a drawer?

Enter the inner width and depth in millimeters. Cells per side = floor((size − tolerance) / 42). The leftover is either left as an edge gap, added as a fit frame (the part equals your size) or filled with a filler plate.

Fit frame vs. filler plate?

Accepted Answer

The frame is a solid strip on all edges with the grid centered. The filler puts the whole leftover on one side (right and back) and can be solid or have a pocket for a glued-in foam or EVA insert.

What if the grid is wider than my print bed?

Accepted Answer

Pick your printer bed (or enter a custom size) — a larger baseplate is split along cell boundaries into the fewest tiles, with dovetail, pin or magnet joints. Tiles are numbered, and you get a PNG assembly diagram and a 3MF with all tiles laid out on the bed.

Are the parts compatible with standard Gridfinity?

Yes. Dimensions follow Zack Freedman's open specification: 42 mm pitch, heights in 7 mm steps, standard foot and lip profiles. Bins and lids fit any Gridfinity baseplate.

Which joint should I choose?

Accepted Answer

Dovetails need no extra parts and hold tiles in both directions. Pins are the easiest to assemble and take apart — print them separately or cut them from 1.75 mm filament. Magnets snap together without effort but need glue and two magnets per joint. A baseplate without a bottom only has room for pins.

Can I make a bin for bits, drills or batteries?

Yes — the Item holder part: 1/4″ bits, drills from a list of diameters, screwdrivers, tweezers and pliers by contour, AA/AAA/18650/CR2032/CR2025/9V batteries, pencils and markers, or a simple rectangular pocket. Set quantity, tolerance and depth — sockets are arranged in a grid and the bin size is picked for the set.
