Will this fit a real IKEA SKÅDIS board?

Accepted Answer

The dimensions come from several independent community measurements — IKEA publishes no drawing: a vertical 5 × 15 mm slot, 40 mm pitch with a 20 mm staggered offset, 5 mm board thickness. The clips are springy and forgive tenths of a millimetre, but print one part before a big batch and adjust the fit clearance if needed.

Why snap clips instead of ordinary hooks with a bend?

A clip goes straight into the slot and snaps behind the rear edge, the lower edge of the slot carries the weight, and the fingers print vertically — along the layers, without supports. A hook bent downward cannot be printed without supports, and a vertical peg snaps along its layers.

How many clips will a part get?

Accepted Answer

As many as fit across the width at the 40 mm pitch (on the grid), and as many rows vertically (also 40 mm apart) as the plate height allows. You can cap the rows under “Clip fit”.

Question 4

Can I print both the panel and accessories for it?

Accepted Answer

Yes. On the “Panel” tab enable the standoff frame (it holds the panel off the wall for the clip tails), and in “Accessories” set the slot edge rounding to 0 and the thickness equal to the panel. Slots of a printed panel are 0.15 mm wider — that is shrinkage compensation.

Question 5

Is the model scaled to fit my printer bed?

Accepted Answer

No: scaling would break the grid pitch and the clip fit. If a part does not fit the bed you will see a warning — reduce the size with the parameters.
